All-in-One And One-For-All: Microsoft Unveils The Xbox One

Prominent Singapore universities to square off in StarCraft II

Students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) and the Singapore Management University (SMU) will square off this 24th March in a Bo3 LAN-based StarCraft II tournament of 32 to 48 players.

The rules and venue of the tourney have yet to be finalised, but organising body Gamers Irregular, the SMU e-Sports club, has already confirmed a registration fee and put out a small advertisement via Facebook. There is also a confirmed prize pool of merchandise and trophies worth over $400.

You’d think that StarCraft players from the different universities would be raring to kick each others’ asses. After all, rivalry runs deep in the Singaporean education system. But organiser Josh Tan says that they might end up opening the competition to the public in order to get more sign ups.

So where are our university level players!?

Word on the street has it that SIM will be heavily represented by members of aLt, while SMU has a team of nGen players taking the stand. It’s only natural that these two universities have such strong representation; they are, after all, better known for their holistic take on education. But are NUS and NTU just going to sit there and get steamrolled by speedlings in the first ten minutes?

University level StarCraft II players in Singapore… it’s time to defend your school’s honour.

The brave can sign up here.
