The Gran Turismo 5 Asia Online Tournament 2012 – the Super GT Cup – recently concluded to great success, with a recorded number of over 10,000 participants. One top racer from each country – Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia – was selected to be a part of the regional final, which is going to be held in Singapore on May 27th, at the Singapore Expo!

The winner of the regional final gets to represent his or her country while competing for the Asian championship, and a chance to win not just the Super GT Cup trophy, but also a free trip to Tokyo in September, entry to the Tokyo Game Show, a special tour of the Polyphony Digital Inc. studio guided by legendary GT5 producer Kazunori Yamauchi and finally, dinner with Yamauchi himself. The Asia Final will be held at the Sepang racing circuit in Malaysia.

Second and third place winners will also receive pretty awesome loot: they’ll get S$320 and S$160 PlayStation Network vouchers respectively. Ordinary participants who manage to attain a gold trophy will also receive exclusive DLC – the Nissan Calsonic IMPUL GT-R (SUPER GT) ’08 car via email.

Here’s a bit more info (from the Press Release) on how the Regional and Asia Finals for the Super GT Cup will play out:

The Asian GT Academy will remain open until June 25th 2012, and involves an eight-step qualification programme. Though the events are based on GT5, they have been specially developed for the Academy by the game’s creator, Kazunori Yamauchi.
