Harry Potter Kinect Announced!

Harry Potter is coming to the Kinect this autumn!

Based on the eight HP films, Harry Potter for Kinect will allow players to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as themselves.

We’re not too impressed with the face capture software used in the game (check out the trailer on the screen bar above to see why), but it is going to be pretty rad running around with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

The Kinect’s hands-free and voice recognition capabilities will let you cast spells with physical manoeuvres and calling out spell names –  something we think is pretty damn awesome.

Since the game is based on the films, expect to see some of the most memorable moments from Harry Potter on the silver screen. You’ll be playing either as relevant characters (think Dumbledore in a battle against Voldemort) or as your own avatar. You’ll also be able to experience everything a Hogwarts student would, right down to visit Ollivanders Wand Shop, choosing a house, and even attending lessons. Players who manage to master their lessons get to take on opponents in competitive mini-games or square off against friends and family in co-op mode.

Oh yeah, and you get to Avada Kedavra the Dark Lord, too!

No release date has been announced for the game yet, though it’s definitely coming out this year.
