Posted by Mary-Anne Lee The celebrations for the Street Fighter franchise’s 25th anniversary have kicked off!
Sony has announced the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Tournament, which will involve four of their most popular fighting games from the franchise.
Regional qualifiers will be held around the world, with the finalists receiving invites to the Grand Finals Tournament in the USA come December 2012. Up to US$500,000 worth of cash prizes, non-cash prizes, and amenities will be distributed throughout the qualifiers and the finals.
The winner of SFxT at the Asia Final will also win a trip to Tokyo in September, together with a free pass to the Tokyo Game Show.

Registration for the tournament is already open. Do note that SSF4AE and SFxT each have a cap of 128 participants, while Third Strike and Super Turbo have caps of 64 participants.
