PopCap Games has announced an upcoming sequel to its tower defence-style zombie title, Plants vs. Zombies. Unfortunately, all isn’t good news for the company.

The good news first. Plants vs. Zombies will be making its return across Windows PCs, Macs, iOS, Android and Kitchen Sink in 2013. The game will have new features and a new setting. One will expect the return of the game’s plants and zombies, of course.

And now, bad news. PvZ developer PopCap has seem layoffs among its staff, with its American studio losing 50 staff members and is considering closing operations in Dublin. EA bought over the company last July and taped it to its EA Interactive division.
