Jovian ‘DM|ShenChan’ Chan will be the only Singaporean attending the prestigious Tougeki – Super Battle Opera tournament this weekend in Japan.

Raymus ‘DM|ShenYuan’ Chan, who also qualified for Tougeki via the Tokyo Soul Calibur V qualifiers, will not be attending. He will instead represent the country at the upcoming MLG (Major League Gaming), a tournament which he feels offers “more reputation”.

In spite of sweeping the Soul Calibur V qualifiers in Shen Zhen, China, Jovian remains unconvinced of performing in Tougeki. “It’s a very unforgiving format,” he told us, of the tournament’s single set, single elimination play. “I don’t want to put pressure on myself for this tournament, because anybody can win it.

“You don’t have to be the better player, you just need to know how to play in one set.”
