Behold the Oculus Rift, the new virtual reality headset that has everyone from Gabe Newell to John Carmack raving about it.

The Rift is similar to the Epson Moverio headset, but with one big difference: it is touted as ‘the first truly immersive virtual reality headset for video games.’

The project, with a modest Kickstarter aim of just US$250,000, has since received over US$1m in crowdfunding. This, with 28 days to go on Kickstarter.

The Oculus Rift was showcased at E3 this year by John Carmack, but has only recently been showcased to the rest of the world via creator Palmer Luckey’s Kickstarter project.
