What’s Cosplay Chess?
Simply put – it’s a dramatised chess game played out by cosplayers on stage. More than that, it’s a showcase of these cosplayers’ talents in bringing their characters to life.
And most importantly, this year’s Cosplay Chess storyline aims to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western cosplays: to show spectators – ghostly or not – that cosplays from both cultures can work together for the greater good of the cosplaying community.
On August 26 2012, a great evil will threaten to consume the world of cosplay. Seven treasures must be gathered in order to stop it, but ‘Cosplay the Series’, the first group of heroes to attempt that, have already been vanquished.
Banished as ghostly spectators in the dreary halls of World of Warcraft’s Karazhan, they will watch helplessly as another intrepid group tries to take on this evil.
Watch this group – made up of characters from Witchblade, Rurouni Kenshin, Fate/stay night, and more – battle it out for the fate of the world at International Cosplay Day Singapore this weekend at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
