There are really women on the Internet.

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) recently released a list of “essential facts” about the US games industry. One of those revelations was that 47% of gamers in the US are female, and 53% are male. Women aged 18 and above represent 30% of game consumers.

On the other hand, the target gamer demographic – teenaged boys – comprises just 18% of consumers.

We doubt the market back home is going to be anything like this, though. For one, local gamers generally prefer F2P (free-to-play) rather than P2P (pay-to-play) games. There are also certain games that have a stranglehold on the industry.

While there are chicks running around toting Blackshot guns along with their Bugis Street LV bags, they’re far and few between when compared to the guys.
